Announcing the Next Rocket Cross Country Coaching Staff

Mount St. Mary Catholic High School is excited to announce the new cross country coaching staff of co-head coaches, Mia Chavez and Richard Bobier.

Mia Chavez served as an assistant under former head coach, Andrew Leahey, who recently made the move to the collegiate level at The University of Oklahoma. Mia is a seasoned competitive runner and currently serves as a teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Oklahoma City.

Richard Bobier served as the Head Coach of the Midwest City Bomber Lady Track Program during a portion of his career, and has most recently served as Head Track & Cross Country Coach at Pioneer Pleasant Vale School the last few years. Coach Bobier also spent his career as a teacher and athletic trainer.

“We are excited to have Coach Chavez return to the cross country program. Her knowledge and passion for coaching the sport is exactly what you look for in a candidate. Sharing the coaching responsibilities with Coach Bobier made perfect sense. Coach Bobier is a veteran to athletics and he brings a wealth of knowledge from a training aspect, to building a solid cross country program.” said Richie Henderson, MSM Athletic Director.

Rocket Cross Country begins their season this Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Norman. Be sure to follow their journey this season on social media!

The Rocket community is excited to welcome Coach Bobier and Coach Chavez to the Rocket family!
