MSM Art students Calliope Staudt and Juli Meraz participated in a collaborative work of art with MSM Art Teacher, Mrs. Blake. The work is showcased in a special exhibit at Paseo One Gallery November 2nd through November 17th. This is an exhibit in which Oklahoma art educators collaborated with their student(s) to honor art education in the state of Oklahoma, and more specifically one of our states educators who passed away, Karen Kirkpatrick. She was a giant in her contributions to Art education in Oklahoma.
Juli and Calliope attended the opening weekend events with MSM teacher Mrs. Blake to view their exhibit. (Pictured below.)
We hope that our Mount family can make it out to the exhibit to help us celebrate our amazing MSM Art Teacher, Mrs. Blake and her outstanding students Calliope and Juli!
"The beautiful thing about making this work of visual art, was that the three of us - Juli, Calliope, and myself - were able to contribute across the board in multiple layers. We were always able to see the work as a whole, work together collectively, and appreciate each others' work. What a lesson!! It was a magical process and will truly be a highlight of my teaching career as an artist and a teacher. What an honor!" said Kathleen Blake, MSM Art Teacher.
"I was incredibly honored to get to collaborate with Mrs. Blake and Julie on this project. We all really enjoyed working together and it was awesome to be able to be featured in a public gallery." said Calliope Staudt, MSM student.
