It was a great day at the FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship for the MSM Robotics Teams! MSM was the only school with three teams representing among the 40 who qualified for the championship, and they did well as they worked hard throughout the two-day event!
The Rockettes (4962) made it all the way to the state semifinals with their robot before losing a heartbreaker against the eventual state champions. They also won the Motivate award for their outstanding community outreach efforts! They were named an alternate for advancement to the South Super Regional in Georgia. Both Makin' Stuff Move (4266) and Atomic Shock (3638) were on the cusp of making the playoff rounds and put in great efforts.
Zack Tyler and Bria Smith were named Oklahoma's two "Dean's List Finalists!" This is the highest individual award in FIRST Robotics (named for FIRST founder Dean Kamen). Zack and Bria will attend and be recognized at the FIRST World Championship in Houston in April. Erick Lassiter and Chrissa Gungoll were both semifinalists for this award as well. We have some amazing students at MSM! Congratulations to all our teams on a great FTC Season!
Next up for The Mount's combined FIRST Robotics Competition team (Team Rocket): They have to finish a 120-lb robot by Tuesday, and them compete at multi-day events in Dallas and San Antonio in March and April!
Way to go, Rocket Robotics! Rocket Pride!!
