2013 NAEA Presentation:
Co-Sponsor- Art Club
It is my great pleasure to be teaching here at "The Mount." I hope to have a positive impact on my students as they become creative, expressive and contributing community members.
The Fine Arts not only enrich our lives, ultimately, they define us as a culture and record the essence of our society. Further development and nurturing of the expressive, innate need to create is essential to a total and well-rounded education. The creative process includes key components such as discovery, invention, experimentation, an inquisitive mind and a sense of play that turn into thoughtful applications of materials and ideas. I want our students to understand, experience, and appreciate the value and power of the arts in our lives and the opportunities they bring to better understand themselves and other, to respect cultural diversity, and to enlighten and serve in our communities.
Thinking creatively is an asset in all walks of life. One of my greatest passions is helping students realize their creative potential and guiding them as they find their own personal voice and develop higher level thinking skills through innovative thinking, visual problem solving and the making art process. My favorite quote by Elbert Hubbard, “Art is not a thing, it is a way" has been the foundation of my own career. Making art and the teaching of art has most definitely been “a way - a way to see the world, to express myself and a way to serve others.”

I live in Edmond, OK with my husband Jim. Together we own The Woodshop LTD which specializes is restoring antique wooden boats. We have been blessed with two children Ben & Cody and Cody's wife Michelle.
I teach the AP Studio Art curriculum to teachers in summer workshops and teach private art lessons as well. One of my greatest joys is making art in my own private studio working in all drawing mediums, paint, mixed media and printmaking. I also love to travel, read, garden and cook.
