PHILOSOPHY AND PURPOSE
The PLUSS Program is offered at Mount St. Mary Catholic High School in order to provide remedial methods for students who have been diagnosed with learning differences. This program will provide students the opportunity to develop specific learning tools based on their diagnosed learning difference. PLUSS will encourage students to acquire skills that are critical for their academic success
PROGRAM EXPLANATION
Students entering this program will be required to complete the regular Mount St. Mary curriculum. Students will work individually with a learning specialist or in small groups for one class period with the possibility of an additional 30 minutes before school each day. The program offers extended testing time, monitoring of subject grades, as well as organizational, test-taking and study strategies.
ADMISSION
In addition to standard Mount St. Mary admission requirements, PLUSS requirements include diagnostic testing and a personal interview. Students accepted into the PLUSS program incur an additional $1,000 fee per year.
Failure to include diagnosed learning disabilities or testing will result in waiting until the beginning of the next subsequent semester for accommodations if they are needed mid-year.
A copy of current (within the last 3 years) psycho-educational testing MUST be provided to Mount St. Mary High School to complete the application for admissions. Psycho-educational testing can be completed through private testing or through an IEP with your public school district.
