Counseling

Mount St. Mary Catholic High School offers a comprehensive guidance program for each student that involves academic advisement, personal counseling, and college and career advising. In all aspects of the Guidance Program, Counselors take into account the developmental needs of each grade level and each student.

Academic advisement begins early freshman year, when each student meets with a Counselor to formulate a four-year plan of study. At any time, students may meet with their Counselor to review current courses and plan for future ones.

Personal counseling is offered to students in crisis or in need of assistance with personal issues. If the Counselor determines that a student’s issues go beyond the services Mount St. Mary can offer, then a referral may be made to outside community agencies.

College and career planning begins the moment students enter MSM. MSM Counselors work with students throughout their four years in high school to begin a college plan, accomplish the proper testing, apply to college, and plan for college financial aid.
