MOUNT ST. MARY NAMES NEW BOYS HEAD BASKETBALL COACH
Today Mount St. Mary Catholic High School has named Andy Fisher as its new Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach. Fisher was officially introduced to the Mount St. Mary family at 11:30 a.m. today in the school library.
Fisher has served as a boy’s varsity basketball assistant coach at Bishop McGuinness High School for the past seven years. Fisher replaces Lenny Hatchett who recently was named the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
An integral part of helping McGuinness win four state championships in boy’s basketball over the past seven years, Fisher was named the Region 8 Oklahoma Assistant Coach of the year in 2011 and 2012.
“We had numerous candidates for this position and after visiting with coaches throughout the state of Oklahoma, Andy Fisher’s name came to the forefront. Once I sat down with him, he had a special presence about him and a distinct insight into who we are and what we are all about at The Mount. He has an extreme passion for kids, an incredible knowledge of the game of basketball and he has the leadership skills to continue to enhance the tradition of Rocket Basketball,” said Talita DeNegri, Principal of Mount St. Mary Catholic High School.
Fisher will assume the head coaching responsibilities immediately.
