KAIROS
The word Kairos is a Greek word used in the New Testament. It means “time”, but not in time in the sense of a minute, an hour or a day, but rather a moment of time, a crucial time, a time of decision, a time of challenge, a very special time. Christians have adopted it to mean, “The Lord’s time.”
The Kairos retreat is a wonderful opportunity for juniors and seniors, along with staff members to take the time away from school and the many other activities that fill up our days, and focus on that which is most important in our lives. The three and half day retreat provides a means for both the participants and the retreat team to come to a greater awareness and appreciation of who they are as people in relationship with a loving and caring God.
Taking time out to re-center ourselves on the blessings of our Christianity, our family, and our friends is important for all who want to have a life that is joyous and fulfilling. The Kairos retreat program offered here at The Mount, in conjunction with Bishop McGuiness High School, provides just such an opportunity. It is our hope and prayer that all of us are able to take some “down time” with the Lord. Looking at our calendars, this may seem impossible, but we must realize that we were the ones who made the choice as to what went in our calendars in the first place!
